WEST ALLIS (April 7, 2019) – The early hours of April 7, the West Allis Fire Department responded to an alarm at the Fujiyama restaurant at 2906 S. 108 Street. Firefighters found moderate smoke and a fire next to the fryers under a table. A fire sprinkler kept the fire contained, allowing firefighters to complete extinguishment.
The fire was caused by a jug of oil that was next to stove. The jug melted and the oil ignited. Damage estimate is $5,000. There were no injuries.
“Requiring restaurants and other assembly occupancies to be protected by fire sprinklers pay dividends.” said chief Pooler.
